Congress Avenue Bridge Bat Colony. Austin is famous for having the largest urban colony of bats living under it's Congress Avenue bridge. The bats fly from mid-April to mid-November, so go see them during their final flights of the year!
If good food is what you're in the mood for, Austin is renowned for its bar-b-que. The Salt Lick 360 is considered by many to be the best of the best.
For those of us less carnivorous, Doug suggests the amazing vegetarian fare at Bouldin Creek Coffeehouse and Magnolia's Cafe.
Finally, if you're feeling really adventurous, Austin has more tattoo parlors per capita than anywhere else in the world.... get inked!
